My dad sent me an email this morning lovingly and humorously letting me know that reading and re-reading my last blog entry Hand Me Downs was getting a little old. :)
Thanks for the gentle spur, Dad…
I was thinking about the last few months and what I would write here today. All of my thoughts were rolling into more of a blog project rather than a blog entry.
I want this to be about Everything Gishs – the big and the small stuff we do.
So, while Gage and I were putting together treats for tonight’s church Young Men’s activity, it occurred to me that making these treats together encompasses the Everything in our lives.
And so this is what we did a few minutes ago:
Pretzel Hugs
Pretzel Hugs are easy peasy to make and oh so yummy! They combine the salty with sweet. Crunchy with creamy. (Many thanks for my dear friend Cathy Fulmer for this recipe.)
Here are the ingredients:
Synders buttery Snap Pretzel Squares, a bag of Hershey’s Hugs and M&M’s.
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Spread the pretzel squares on a lightly greased baking sheet.
Unwrap the hugs (forgive the obvious ..duh!) and place on the center of each pretzel square.
“One for Me…. ….One for the Pretzel.”

Bake at 200 for 7-8 minutes.
While they are baking, you can always catch up on Facebook. (Or like Chase ,shown here, you can catch up 24/7/365).
When the timer goes off, the hugs will look soft but not fully melted. This is just the way you want them.
Leaving them on the baking sheet, take them immediately out of the oven and carefully place one M&M at a time in the center of each softened Hug.
When you’re done, put in fridge for 1 hour …or, if you are in a hurry, like I typically am, 15 minutes in the freezer works too.
Enjoy!
when it comes to Everything Gish, always wanting s'more(s) -- but hugs and pretzels work too. :-)
ReplyDeleteLittle reminder of what it's like at the Gishes and makes me anxious for my next visit.
Oh, I will be making those for sure! They look delish!
ReplyDeleteUse a peanut butter M&M, and these would be amazing! I've made little "Take 5" treats with these kind of pretzels -- a small square of homemade caramel on top of the pretzel, then dipping them in chocolate, but this way is so much faster and easier!
