9th grade

4.) When you say, “Mom, can we go get some ice-cream?” Then we drive and drive and talk and talk until well after the last bite of cone is gone.

5) When you and I and Sam and Dad and Gage finally go to a “fun store” (like Best Buy) after hours of running errands, and you and Sam start for music room with all the cool guitars, drums and keyboards – and without any prompting but from what’s in your heart, you always turn back to Gage and say, “Hey Bud – come with us.”

6.) When you open a sketch pad and ink up your fingers for hours.  What that creates in you is even more masterful than what appears on your paper.

10th grade

7.) The way you leave for Seminary at 5:45 in the morning every day without having made a single sound while getting ready.

8.) The way you gather others from the margins of the world around you and draw them into the center of your circle.

9.) The way you pray. Nothing set. Straight from your heart; as if standing before a loving parent with full confidence and gratitude that He is happy to bless any request from you.

11th grade

10.) Blasting Les Mis  in the car and singing even louder to it. (And saying “ooooh, goooosies” during “Empty Chairs” and “I Dreamed a Dream.” Counting down to the Christmas Day opening in theaters…)

11.) Perfectly quoting  Brain Regan, Jim Gaffigan or nearly every line from almost every movie that stars Will Smith .

12.) Imitating Don Jooowahn during serious moments that need a little levity.

12th grade

13.) Your Love {ahem, smirk} for science - (“Did you know about the theory that Mermaids evolved from Apes?”)

14.) The way you look after a long ride on your long board….
