Hand Me Downs

One of the most fun -  and economical - things about having all boys born roughly within the same season is the hand-me-downs.

Now that Gage is fitting into size 8 clothing, I decided to do a little hand-me-down shopping in our basement.

Just the other day, I opened up a large, red Rubbermaid box and discovered the clothes which I packed away at the end of summer 2003.  Back then, Sam and Chase had finally grown out of the shorts, shirts and shoes they both romped around in as they biked, hiked and played street hockey with neighbors.

Sam and Chase were 10 and 8  then.  Gage was 9 months old.

I remembered thinking how BIG my older boys were and how many years it would be before Gage would fit into those clothes. I folded them and stacked each article of clothing on the bottom of that box which I lined with dryer sheets so they would smell “April Fresh” on the day I would open it for my youngest son who was still an infant at the time.

Those years have passed in a flash and the shirts, shoes and shorts both Sam and Chase wore when they were ...well, little…now fit Gage perfectly.

This month we set up a photo session for Sam to take his Senior Portraits and Chase gets his learner’s permit in a week.

Why is it I have a feeling it will be tomorrow when Gage fits into the hand-me-downs I'll pack away for him at the end of this summer.

  2. Let's see what's in each others closets, shall we? I can't believe Gage is that big!
