Use your favorite bread dough recipe* (risen and all) and divide in half. Shape each half into 10 - two and a half inch circles .
Sandwhich two circles together with any buttery savory garlic seasonings inside.
Grease up your bread pan, then stand the filled dough discs upright and squash them together. Cover for about 30 minutes (or until well risen) with a damp towel that has been warmed in the microwave .
Glaze with a little steamy milk. Bake at 415 F (210c) for half and hour or until brown and crispy crusted.
You can do the same with any kind of filling. I made a second batch with our favorite pizza stuff.
I used deli size pepperoni here, but mini ones really work best.
Oh – and if you like sauce like we do, you’ll want to slather, goop and slosh it on. It dries quickly when baking. We even use dipping bowls of our favorite sauce when eating the finished product.
Happy Dough!
* My favorite recipe for this bread: 1 pkg of yeast; 2 tsp sugar; 1 1/2 cup warm water; 4 cups all purpose flour; 2 tsp salt;
Combine yeast, sugar and 1/2 cup water in bowl. Cover & set aside in warm place for 10 minutes or until frothy.
Sift flour and salt into another bowl. Create a well in the center and pour in 1 cup water + the frothy yeast. Mix to a soft dough then knead on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes – or until smooth and soft to the touch.
Put the dough into an oiled bowl (I use a light layer of extra virgin olive when creating garlic or pizza breads. Canola is better for a cinnamon filling) and loosely cover with a greased sheet of Saran wrap. Let it double in size – about an hour.
Punch down and knead for another minute.
You’re ready to divide it in half and follow the rest of the steps above.
Looks yummy! I like the pictures too. The lone dough looks like its on stage in a play.
ReplyDeleteRead this while eating my salad with grilled chicken which has become a lunch time staple. :( I am achieving the desired results but this looks so much better! Thanks for the temptation.
