Thus Saith Mom

After days of asking for the basket of clean clothes to be put away (some of which are on floor before you), and for the basement to be cleaned up (which will not be shown here out of sheer, unadulterated pride) sometimes, a little divine language seasoned with levity does the trick.

P.S. In case you are thinking to yourselves, “Well, at least he made his bed” - allow me to clarify.  Nope. I made the bed. It’s an OCD thing. I have a hard time putting clean clothes, even ones in baskets, on an unmade bed. For some reason, it’s like rolling out dough on a counter that still has bread crumbs on it from a sandwich that was put together earlier. (I know. It may be a clinical disorder.) “Why did I not, then, simply put the basket on the floor?” you may be wondering. My dear friend, that is precisely where it has been for the last few days. The hope is that it will be obstructing this beloved child’s ability to nap after school today.

  4. First of all, there was no need to even explain that YOU made the bed. There is not a heterosexual man on earth who would make a bed that neatly. Secondly, there is no way I could put that basket on an unmade bed either...although I probably would have made him make the bed, poured the clothes all over the floor and on the bed and out the window (my dad's mom used to do that -- she would throw the sheets out the window when her sons didn't make their beds. One time she pulled my dad out of school just to come home and make the bed. She was serious about bed-making. You have nothing to worry about in the "clinical disorder" category!) And thirdly, that note is Absolutely. Positively. Brilliant. In every way. Beautifully written (visually and verbally) and so very thoughtful, divine and so very you. Well done Momma Gish!!!! (as usual!!!!)
