Gage is one of our resident artists here in the Gish House/Studio – and felt inspired to follow in the footsteps of the great masters by creating a religious piece in the medium he is most comfortable. . .
Legos.
(He’s also got a knack for marketing, don’t you think?)
The Title? “Jesus and Peter Walking on Water and Everyone Else Who Was There.”
Gage mentioned that all the pictures he’s ever seen of Jesus shows him with long hair. Hence, he explained, his choice of hair piece. I let him know that actually the red clothing is very symbolic and using symbolism is one thing that artist’s use to share a message. (“uh-huh” was the response.)
Gage’s notes are self explanatory.
I asked who this character was, being that I don’t remember anyone else from the story besides Jesus, Peter and the disciples. . . ahem . . . I mean the crew.
That’s when Gage slapped the sticky note behind the figure. (I should learn patience until artists are completely done with their work.)
I asked what Satan, a.k.a. Saten, he was doing there?
Gage said “He was the one who made Peter think he couldn’t walk to Jesus and probably even used his power to push him down into the water.”
Hmmmmm. Out of the mouths of babes.
Hugs!
This really, really made my day! Gage is STILL as awesome as I remember him!
ReplyDeleteThere is so so SO much I love about this post I don't know where to begin...the lego perfection, the creativity, the intense spiritual knowledge, the openness in spirituality to create such thing on a whim, the love and gentle "being there" of the parents...and so much more..... How can you not adore that boy and his parents? Impossible.
